History of realmscraft (https://realmscraft.net/)

For over 20 years, players in the Realms have met on weekends and played characters in a fictional world. We have maps, and imagine that we come from lands with castles, roads, bridges, towns, and everything else that might fit a medieval fantasy theme. Until now, those lands have lived in our stories, songs, poems, and fertile imaginations. This project is an attempt to change that.

Minecraft is a game developed by a small company in Sweden, originally started by Markus "Notch" Persson. It is a server based multiplayer environment where the world is defined by blocks of material, which you can dig up, rearrange, craft, and manipulate to create nearly any kind of world you can dream up.

I have been playing Minecraft since it was in beta-testing and our family went to the convention that was thrown to celebrate the full game's release in November 2011 in Las Vegas. I have helped to administer a server and have created over 60 Minecraft youtube videos. Last Fall it struck me that this might be the ideal environment to develop a "virtual realms" where we can build, explore, and play in our imagined world when we aren't playing our characters at Realms events.

The Minecraft Rhiassa server started with a build of Rhiassa, but the eventual goal is to have a full representation of the Realms available for all members of our community to play on. Even with tools to help us build, this is no small task, but in time I hope that we can all have a place to come together and continue the plots, stories and community we have developed at our events.

"Realmscraft" could never replace LARPing, but with the right approach it can be a tool to make our shared roleplaying experience deeper and more fulfilling than ever before.

Texture packs

• Contact gary.heinstrom@hotmail.com for current Texture Pack or click here https://arkendrose.webnode.com/texture-packs-/ to download available packs.  The most up to date (RESOURCE) pack is titled Realms7.  WARNING - due to recent updates to minecraft, some of the (older) textures are no longer functioning.  Contact gary.heinstrom@hotmail.com for assitance in choising a proper functioning pack with the Realms artwork included or if you have any special requests for future packs. 

Server help / version changer

• If the server's version of the .jar file is out of date, use a version changer:  www.minecraftforum.net/topic/877629-minecraft-version-changer-windows%E2%94%82mac%E2%94%82linux-500k-downloads-indev-latest-snapshot/
  • If you download this, you will be able to switch between versions at will.
  • Remember to run McPatcher after every switch to insure proper operability.  Note that this may not work on very early versions of Minecraft.

Texture Modification / correction  / Instal

• To get MCPatcher (Use MCPatcher after changing version):  NOTE:  This method is outdate yet still functions.  The current mclauncher includes its own version changer.

                                    Wait 5 seconds and click the button in the upper-right corner.  That should download MCPatcher. Run it and it *should* find 

                                    and update your Minecraft JAR file.

• To find your texture packs or to place texture pack folders where they can be used:  Contact gary.heinstrom@hotmail.com to request an updated version of our texture pack.
  • Go to your windows search bar in the lower right hand corner (Start button)
  • Type in %appdata% and you will see your roaming folder pop up.
  • Inside your roaming folder, should be at the top, is your minecraft folder.  Open it
  • Inside you will find a folder labeled texturepacks (Or a folder labeled resource packs/this foulder is where you will place the version 1.6.2 textrue packs and higher).  Open it.
  • Inside this folder will be all texture packs you have currently.  If you have downloaded a texture pack and it is not here. Find it and place it in the texturepack folder (Or a folder labeled resource packs/this foulder is where you will place the version 1.6.2 textrue packs and higher).
